Thunder over the Coconino District II
.
September 2 was a beautiful day on the Coconino Plateau, just miles south of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Chili enthusiasts, along with classic auto buffs and antique airplane aficionados gathered at the Valle Airport for a fun filled day. This was the 2nd year for this event, but since it has been moved up in date, it is now a late season district. Chairman Norm Gobeil has done a fine job, with great prize money and a good setting, hot water available all during the day, with plenty of great cars and airplanes to look at if you venture away from your booth. Winners were:
.
Salsa
3rd Place - Dan Garcia (Williams, AZ)(First
Time Cook)
2nd Place - Jinny Kost (Pine, AZ)
1st Place - Mary Pierczynski (Carson City, NV)
.
Verde
3rd Place - Mary Pierczynski (Carson City, NV)
2nd Place - Jinny Kost (Pine, AZ)(Won Tie Breaker)
1st Place - LeeRoy Watson (Pine, AZ)
.
Red
3rd Place - Jinny Kost (Pine, AZ)
2nd Place - Mary Pierczynski (Carson City, NV)
1st Place - Paul Whitney (Flagstaff, AZ)(Won Tiebreaker)
This gives Paul two district wins and qualifies him for the WCCC
