Bill Donovan Update

On March 1st over 600 family, friends and firefighters crowded our community field house/gymnasium to, as my dad would say, "Get The Party Started!"

The only element missing were my parents. My dad's immune system would now allow them to attend. My dad's favorite local Cajun Band played and threw colorful beads to the crowd.

Over 100 baskets were donated for raffle and even more items were donated for bid and buy.

Gold Star Chili donated the spicy coneys and the "fluids" flowed. It was a benefit that my parents would have loved to have attended, for someone else that is...

As givers,my parents have a difficult time accepting the generosity that you have shown. "Chilihead" friends from East to West, North and South also generously contributed to the benefit fund and in total 35 thousand dollars was raised for my dad's ongoing medical treatments. Your generosity has been unbelievable. Thank you!

As my dad continues to receive intense chemo treatments for leukemia please remember to keep him and my mom in your prayers. Thanks again for all of your love and support for my parents.

Route 66 Regional Awards

The simple gasoline pump. Long an icon of travel in these United States, the gasoline pump once was found from Chicago to Santa Monica in incredible numbers alongside Route 66, from big cities like St. Louis and Tulsa to tiny places like Twin Arrows, Truxton and Amboy. Every few miles, you could find a place to gas up your vehicle. Nowadays, you have to look for the places just off the interstate at a Love's or Petro to find your gas and some new fangled electronic pump. But on June 14, 2008, you will be able to once again find old style gasoline pumps. First place Red Chili at the 25th Annual Silver Anniversary Route 66 Regional Chili Cookoff in Flagstaff, Arizona, the winner gets a beautiful replica of an old style gas pump, on of the coolest trophies offered in all of ICS. Ask Kathy Plager or Eddie LaCross about it, they both have one of these 2 and a half foot tall trophies proudly displayed. And in Salsa, all 3 of the winners get miniature gas pump trophies to take home. Very unique trophies from a very unique cookoff. Hope we'll see you here in Flagstaff trying to take one home!

Chili Cooks!!!!

The time has come to register for the third annual DVRCC.

The Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce has arranged for a great day. Remember…it's all about the cooks and the charity!! Nothing could be truer. On Friday night we have a cook's party at the Holiday Inn Select with one hour of hosted cocktails and appetizers. On Saturday at the cooks meeting, breakfast sandwiches and fresh brewed coffee will be provided for all head cooks. Volunteers are busy putting together the soon to be world famous cooks goodie bag. The chamber has provided over $9000 in prize money, great trophy's, and a concert with Country Music recording artist Sara Evans…link: (Sara Evans). All this great stuff just for the chili cooks. We have provided a couple of methods for registration, go to DVRCC registration site, or enter at the ICS website: ICS Registration Site
