River City Regional Chili Cookoff at

Old Town Elk Grove SpringFest a HUGE Success

As an antique dealer, I always know that something old becomes new again. This holds true for the River City Regional Chili Cookoff. After a number of years in Folsom, CA, the attendance and interest in the River City Regional Chili Cookoff had started to fall. As a merchant in Old Town Elk Grove, I was approached with the idea of adding a Chili Cookoff to our charming Old Town SpringFest. With a tremendous amount of hard work, dedication and vision, Elk Grove had one of the most successful events in our community. The police estimated the crowd to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 18,000-20,000 people. That's a nice neighborhood. Last year, in Folsom, the crowd estimate was 3,000. There were plenty of activities to keep the large crowd entertained and happy. Our Main Stage featured big name local bands, a taste tempting food court and beer garden. Our Kids area had tons of free bounce houses, pony rides, a petting zoo, live entertainment on the kids stage and plenty of fun and healthy treats for the kids. There were 4 other secondary stages, with different theme on each stage. We had a few minor first year hic ups, but all in all a good time was had by all.

.

With a new venue, energetic new blood implementing a well thought out plan and an enthusiastic community, we helped raise a lot of much needed funds for the CureBreast Cancer Foundation.

.

Our ICS family came out in force to support this new venue. Kathy & I thank you for that support. ICS members always put on a great show and are much appreciated by the organizers as well as the community. Thanks for a GRREAT JOB!!!
