AVI Back 2 Backs
Thanksgiving on the River... Suprise, it was Windy! However, as usual Susie Baumberger and Fred Muierhead of AVI did their usual great job. The Rotary Literacy Project got over $400 to buy books from the People's Choice. Jim Maehl did his usual thing as Chief Judge, assisted by Steve Porter on Saturday. I did my thing assisted by the Lake Havasu Chili Society (Sharon Ayers, Marilou Corrao & Louise Dinneweth... Elaine Lloyd was smart enough not to show up in the wind, but Walt was there to Judge), and Val Gereghty. Bobbie Gaul & Willma Maehl scored People's Choice on Friday and Louise & Willma on Saturday. Ron Burt and Bob Dinneweth handled the Wrangling with everyone pitching in to help. EZ Rider was there taking pictures for an article and enjoyed judging so much that I invited them to Laughlin in January (I think Jim did too). And the winners were:

Congratulations to all the winners. At least 2 of them can use the money to repair and replace canopies destroyed by wind. And a special thanks to all the volunteers who weathered the wind to come out and support the cookoff with hopes of no more than a heart felt Thank you.
.
The spring cookoffs at AVI will not be held on Easter weekend this year as Easter is in March this year and we will be in Cal City for the Desert Rat Regional. They will be held April 5 & 6. The site will be moved back up by the casino to provide more protection from the wind. They are working on special rates for the jacuzzi suites for cooks and volunteers. Don't know if I will have those in time to put on the flyers that will be available at Laughlin, but the casino rate code will be Chili08.
.
Thanks again to everyone. It was a great weekend.
