the results from Saturday's, July 3, Firecracker Chili Cookoff, which was part of the Mountain State Art and Craft Fair, held in Ripley, West Virginia. The weather was awesome and the organizers have the event well tuned for the participating cooks. While the cooks have to concentrate on preparing their entries, they also have a chance to shop among 150 artisans on the grounds for the event. Mark the first Saturday in July 2011 for next year's event. Ask any participating cook, the event is fun for everyone.

Come one, come all and enjoy the hospitality of the Route 66 Casino and Hotel in Rio Puerco, NM for the 2010 Southwest Regional and New Mexico State Chili Cookoffs! To be held August 7 and 8, this will be the 2nd year the event will take place at this casino, only 20 minutes from downtown Albuquerque on I-40.

Tents are set up like the World's, along with tables and chairs. There are no entry fees, provided you supply 2+ gallons of People's Choice chili. Also, along with the cookoff, there is a huge car show with over 250 classic cars and hot rods.

They are offering a special room rate of $66.00 for each night of the cookoff. Good prize money each day and 3 chances to qualify for the WCCC each day. Chief Judge is Bob Plager, ably assisted by Kathy Plager, Chief Scorekeeper. Hope to see you for a fun weekend in the Land of Enchantment! .

Winter Park, Colorado

Saturday, August 21st - Rocky Mountain Regional

Sunday, August 22nd - Colorado State

.

Plan now to come up to cool, sunny, and beautiful Winter Park, Colorado for 2 days of World qualifiers. For those flying in, flights can be booked into Denver at great prices right now. Saturday, besides traditional red, chili verde, and salsa, there will once again be a "Guac-off" Guacamole division. Prize money and a trophy will be given to the first place winner.

.

The cookoffs are at the base of the Winter Park Ski Resort, and it's one of the most awesome spots to cook at in the country (at 9000 ft). Rooms are available in Winter Park, with a 20% chilihead discount given when you call Winter Park Central Reservations @ 1-800-977-6198. Make sure you ask for the "20% off Winter Park Resort Lodging Properties discount."

.

Cash and trophies will be awarded to 1st through 3rd places in each division, each day. Judges that come out year after year are experienced, and do a fine job in the judging area.

.

Please register on-line. Letters and cookoff information will be sent out soon to cooks who have previously attended.
