2nd Annual Kicks Route 66 Chili Cook-Off

The support of chili cooks continue to amaze me, in spite of the 100 degree heat, stifling humidity, and conflicts for fathers day family functions we pulled off a successful Regional Cook off at Kicks Family Entertainment Center, Springfield , IL. Public attendance was fair. Donated raffle basket ticket sales and local business sponsorship were both up this year. We had a special "Peoples Choice" Trophy which was won by tasters tabulated vote.  Our winners this year were  Salsa - Jake Hall- New Berlin, IL (1st time cook) Chili Verde - Maureen Barrett - Willow Springs, IL (2009 Red Chili World Champion)

Red Chili - Aldo Klinghammer - Taylorville, IL.

 .

I truly appreciate all the hard work of Chief Judge Mark Komnick, New Berlin, IL and Chief Scorekeeper Tom Calvert, Taylorville, IL.  A special thanks to the owners and staff of Kicks Family Entertainment Center, Jay Landers - BJC Developmental Director, Association of BJC Board Members and Jen McDaniel, our onsite photographer.
