MONDAY - October 1, 2007

Joe Defrates Memorial Reg.

Springfield, IL.

Sun. Sept. 30

.

The Ansar Shrine Patrol and Leo Stork (Chairman) again pulled off another very successful Regional Chilli Cookoff.

This is the 5th year that they have been producing this cookoff and with that, they have sent over $20,000 to the Shriners Children's Hospital as a result of this cookoff.

These folks do an excellent job of working towards their goal of raising dollars for children. They are a great group to work with. All of the chili cooks say that they have not had as much help that these Shriners offer.

Chili cooks from 5 states gathered at the Shrine Temple in Springfield for their last shot at making it to the ICS 2007 World's Championship and walking away with the $1,000 first place chilli. We had a beautiful day and some excellent Salsa and Chilli for the 5th Annual Joe Defrates Memorial.

COLMAN TYPE COOK STOVES

.

I would like to remind everybody cooking in the WCCC

that you have to use a Coleman Type Cook Stove that uses propane.

Last year we had some cooks that showed up with stoves that used white gas. This made the events people very nervous as they were afraid the fire marshal would shut them down. I was able to provide those cooks with a propane type stove.

.

I well have a few extra stoves with me this year as well for anybody discovering that there stove does not work. They're not the greatest looking in the world, but they will do the job.

.

Thanks for your cooperation.
