Back to Back Regional's in Chicago

Chicago will be the host of two Regional's the weekend of August 2nd and 3rd. That means two chances to qualify for Salsa,Chile Verde, and Red World Championships!
The 14th annual Windy City Regional will be held on August 2 with the Northern Illinois Regional on August 3. The Northern Illinois Regional is returning to Chicago after a 10 year vacation. Both cookoffs are part of the Retro on Roscoe street festival on Chicago's North Side. The Retro on Roscoe festival has been ranked as one of the top 100 street festivals in the country and was featured by Rachel Ray and the Food Network in 2006. It features five music stages, kids entertainment, a classic car show, and more. The cookoff proceeds benefit the Food Pantry of St. Teresa of Avila and donations are also accepted.
.
We have room for 35 cooks each day so please reserve a spot soon. The cooks will have to provide their own tents, tables, and chairs. Rentals are available for those flying in for the weekend. Contact me if you will need propane tanks. Please bring along extra chili fixins as we have a large hungry crowd each year.
.
Chicago has hundreds of hotel rooms available in all different price ranges that can be easily found on all major websites. O'Hare International airport is a quick 30 minute cab or car ride from the cookoff. Once again our judges will be led by 2004 Chile Verde World Champion - Wes Carlson. You can get more information on the event by going to :

Firefighters & ChiliHeads for Gumby

Greetings all,

The plans are being finalized for both events, and there will be a kickoff announcement made live on Channel 19 Morning News on July 17th at 8:15AM. Several forms of chilies will be prepared for the morning news crew and staff, so check it out.
.
If anyone has anything they would like to provide for door prizes to be given to participants at both Blood Drive on the 17th of July and the Fill The Boot function on the 25th of July, please advise me as soon as possible.
.
Gumby and Gail have done so much for the Cincinnati Fire Museum through the ChiliFest, and also far too many other charity events over the years, so now is the time for everyone to step forward and show our support of them. Also, please feel free to distribute this information out to anyone else that you feel may be interested in participating or assisting!
.
If you have any questions or can be of any additional assistance, please contact me at any time.
.

Respectfully submitted,

George Phelps
