New York State Chili Cookoff Results

Saturday June 21^st will go down as one of the top 10 beautiful days here in the Hudson Valley. Temps were in the mid 80's, humidity bearable and no clouds, no rain. Bob Myers was the force behind the main event, the Our Lady of Lourdes High School Summer Food Festival. In addition to vendors and the chili cookoff, there was a Hudson Valley BBQ Championship. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the festival didn't get the advertising or the notice it should have in the short amount of time Bob had to get this going. It still was a success as far as the cooks were concerned; great site, a VIP tent with cookies and water for the cooks, even goodie bags. There wasn't a huge crowd, but there was a steady flow of hungry chili tasters. Next year they are planning a bigger and better venue and this will be a great cookoff for cooks from all over.

More New York State Info

Dear friends, I would like to thank all of you involved in the Our Lady of Lourdes Food Festival and NYS Chili cook-off last weekend. I had a wonderful time, and the day got rave reviews from all. Our only problem was lack of spectators. We counted 150, and we were hoping for 300. All involved tell me it takes time, but i am slightly disappointed. My Principal was as well. but he has agreed to prepare for next year. The date for next year is tentatively June 27th. This is one week later. Feel free to give me feedback on this. Next year we have already made some deals with additional sponsors and ride companies etc. I will do my best to make it bigger and better. For those of you that participated thank you sooooo much, and those who missed this year please consider next years date. We will include some incentives to be named at a later date (Mad Mike and I dancing the Hula in nothing but grass skirts). We can only hope. WESTERN REGIONAL WILL BE HELD AGAIN THIS YEAR AT THE DEL MAR RACE TRACK ON SATURDAY, AUG. 2ND

OUR GIVEAWAY THIS YEAR FOR EARLY PAID ENTRY FOR RED CHILI IS A VERY NICE WOODEN LADLE WITH A CUP HOLE FOR SERVING PEOPLE'S CHOICE CHILI. ALTHOUGH I HAVE RECEIVED SEVERAL ON LINE REGISTRATIONS, THE PURPOSE OF THE GIVEAWAY IS TO RECEIVE APPLICATIONS WITH CHECKS TO INSURE ATTENDANCE. IF YOU QUALIFY YOUR ENTRY FEE WILL BE REIMBURSED.
