Canada's Capital Chili Cookoff
There is a new ICS regional cookoff, hosted by SuperEX and sponsored by Food Mode Magazine to benefit the Ottawa Food Bank.
 .
Venue will be in Sports and Recreation Pavilion, an indoor location located at Lansdowne Park, 1015 Bank Street, Ottawa Ontario during SuperEX 2009.  Contestants must use a naphtha fuelled cook stove - propane will not be allowed in the building.  You will be given an 8' table and 2 chairs for your 10' space and decorating and having fun is highly encouraged!
 .
Due to City of Ottawa Health Regulations all contestants must read the document titled (for a copy: chilidog@windsor.igs.net) "Special Events Pamphlet" and fill out the "Notification - Special Events" form and email it back to foodhandlercertifica@ottawa.ca
 .
Please also note that City Health regulations require that salsa be prepared on site.  Herb and Spice Shop will be providing a variety of produce and the contest will be "Iron Chef" style. The local TV station will tape the contestants pulling the produce they need. As we get closer, we'll post which produce will be available. Be sure to bring your special secret ingredients!
 .
Take advantage of The Stay & Play Package.  From August 20 to 30, 2009 come to Canada's Capital Chili Cookoff, enjoy SuperEX and accommodations provided by the Cartier Place Suite Hotel.  There's an attractive kid's deal too!  For $99 ( about $85 US) per person per night (based on double occupancy), you get:
  • One night's accommodation
  • Admission to SuperEX
  • 2 Ride All Day wristbands
  • Complimentary hotel parking
  • Complimentary hotel breakfast
.
Kids under 16 STAY FREE and receive reduced ride all day wrist bands and admission passes can be purchased for them for only $27.95 - a savings of $18.
 .
The Cartier Place Suite Hotel is ideally situated for your SuperEX visit and for your excursions through the many sites the Nation's Capital has to offer. The hotel is located in a quiet neighbourhood between the beautiful Rideau Canal and the trendy boutique and restaurant area of Elgin Street. The hotel is also just a short seven-minute drive to SuperEx or an inexpensive cab ride or a scenic walk beside the beautiful Rideau Canal. Call 1-800-236-8399 to reserve your room.
 .
Ottawa is a beautiful city to visit. You might want to make an extra long weekend of it. The SuperEx is like your state agricultural fairs, lots to see & do.
 .
Wendy and I will be making the 8 hour drive to be chief judge and scorekeeper. We even have a couple of our regular Windsor regular judges making the trip.
 .
Very important...check the US Customs website to see what's acceptable for you to re-enter the US. Of course, passports are best.
 .
Check this out. It's a very enthusiastic group that's trying to put this on.
