The NERCC!!!!

Hola MI amigo's,

Sorry....I can't seem to stop speaking spanglish.

After an extended trip to Mexico and back, which included two VERY close calls for missing our planes due to USAirways stupidity and their computer ineptitude and a 3 day extension in Cozumel at yet another all inclusive and then a 4 hour delay in Charlotte on our way home.....we can honestly say.....IT IS SOOOO GOOD TO BE HOME!

But...we are moving "Full Steam Ahead" with the New England Regional Chili Cookoff and we are trying to cover all of our bases and all of the cooks needs with the exception of getting a personal masseuse for a cook from Wilkes Barre,Pa.

With that being said, for the cooks that are flying, we will have a table and 2 chairs for you. For the cooks that are driving, if you have an extra tent please bring it(?) or don't mind sharing space with another yet to be named chili cook please let me know as that would help out fellow cooks tremendously!

Now....if you need anything I.e.;hotel accommodations,grocery store info, directions or anything was missing from the cooks packet you have received (except for the 1 or 2 we will send out tomorrow),please don't hesitate to contact me and we will do our damndest to make it happen...except for that masseuse.....that is not happening!

We do want to make mention that the Health department stuff we included was a bit extensive. The Health dude is pretty cool....as long as you keep hot stuff hot and cold stuff cold, and have some sort of hand and dish sanitizing items things will be dandy. Try to have a fire extinguisher or be near a cook that has one. Usually cooks carry thermometers....it would be nice if you have one...(soon to be) Professor J.Eis will be only too happy to explain how to calibrate it should you need that as well.

Rio Grande Valley Regional Chili and Salsa cook off

May 5th Saturday, is the 4th Regional sanctioned chili and salsa cook off to be held on South Padre island, TX.

Entry can be completed on the chili website www.chilicookoffspi.com.

.

Entry can be paid on the site through Pal Pal by using a credit card. There is also an entry application that can be printed off the site, then filled out and mailed to me.

.

The head cook must be a member of the International Chili Society and must be 18 years old.

.

THere are special hotel rates at the Beachside Inn. All reservations must be called in by 4/20/07 and you must ID yourself as a Chili Cook.

.

If your entry fee is received before 4/20/07 you will receive a 10 dollar discount for each category entered. IN other words if you want to enter Red Chili it costs 35 bucks. If you send your entry fees in before or by 4/21/07 it will only be 25 dollars.

.

All proceeds will go to Teach the Children charity which is administered solely by New channel 5 ABC out of Welaco, TX.

All chili heads are invited to come on down.

NAPLES DISTRICT GOES REGIONAL IN 2008!

Thanks to all the hard work by Sue Zornes, Cookoff Organizer, the Naples, Florida District will go Regional next year. It is held in conjunction with the country music concert "Naples Country Jam". The weather is always great and this is a well organized and fun cookoff. Hope to see many of you next year who want to escape from the lousy weather up north!

Moms of Military chili cook off - Russ Barnes
