The Cypress cookoff date is fast approaching and Chris Sherrin tells me he has only heard from one cook so far. This cookoff has been around for a very long time and I would hate to see it go down the drain. So, if you only need one district to qualify for the World or if you want to qualify for the last chance cookoff and save yourself a $100.00 come on out and cook, you will be on grass and able to park behind your booth. If you can cook please contact Chris Sherrin, Chairman at chris@sherringlassandmetal.com and let him know that you will be there, or you can email me at chiliahr@veawb.coop . This is a really big community event and everyone in the community comes out for it, they have local businesses there and many many craft booths and vendors. I would love to see a good turnout of cooks at this one. Norm is Chief Judge and I am Chief Scorekeeper and we would like to see all our friends out there cooking. Heartland and Northern Illinois Regional Chilli Cookoff

The Decatur Celebration Street Festival and Ray’s Brand Chilli invite you to the

Back to Back - Heartland and Northern Illinois Regional Chilli Cookoffs Aug. 5 and Aug 6, 2006

Join us for an exciting weekend of entertainment, fair food and chilli cookin’ on Saturday August 5, and Sunday August 6, 2006 in downtown Decatur. Both contests will feature Red Chili, Verde, and Salsa, with cash prizes and plaques for the first three in each contest. The cookoffs will be held on the street in the middle of the Decatur Celebration with huge crowds expected. An extimated 300,000 have attended this three day event in past years. There will be 11 stages with continuous entertainment, featuring the Marshall Tucker Band, the Abba Experience, solid gold, blues and zydeco bands among others. You can learn more about the Festival at www.decaturcelebration.com . Chairmen will be Larry Eastep for the Heartland and Bob Hall for the Northern Illinois Regional. You will need to get your applications in early to insure that you have a space to cook and so we can get you a parking pass. Worlds Championship Golf Tournament

Wow, less than a week since I put the tournament announcement on Dicks blog and we already have nine spots committed to. If I hear from 4 more people, I can call Iron Horse Golf Course and get a fourth tee time. Let's get this tournament back up to five foursomes. WESTERN REGIONAL CHILI COOKOFF--CLAUDE COVINGTON

We are only 1 month away from the annual Western Regional Chili Cookoff. We still have spaces left for the prepaid stainless steel ladles for Red Chili cooks. More important, I need the applications for the cooks so that I have time to return your parking passes.Also, I need to hear from those wanting to judge so that I have time to mail the parking passes and entry tickets.Please call me me at 951-674-6508.

The date of this cookoff is August 12, 2006 at the DelMar Race track in DelMar.

Our board is also very pleased to welcome Dennis and Allene Macklin as new directors with the Western Regional Committee.
