Hello Chili Heads,
.
I have posted new information on the website for hotel accommodations. It seems the Beachside Inn withdrew their offer of 49 bucks per night offer. This was last Friday.
Yesterday I went out amongst the rest of the hotels on the island. I have two choices for y'all.
The Howard Johnson Hotel will give a rate of 45 bucks a night. Ph. 956-761-5658
The Comfort Suites will give a rate of 59 bucks a night. Ph. 956-772-9020
In both cases you must ID yourselves as a chili cook. To receive this price you must call in your reservations before 4/20/07.
If you go to my website and click on the page titled "Hotels for Chili Heads" you will see this information. I have links to these hotels on the website and clicking on them will take you to their site. You can book the reservations on the internet. If it doesn't work then of course you have to phone them. www.chilicookoffspi.com.
If you plan to enter this contest or not please mention this change to other Chili Heads at other cook offs you may be attending. Thank you for your help in spreading the word of this hotel change.
Sorry for the inconvenience. I suppose the Beachside Inn received an massive booking to back out of their original offer. So much for sticking to your word---right!

The Beachside Inn backed out of their deal of giving chili cooks a special rate of 49 bucks a night. I removed their name and price off of the website. This week I will hit all the hotels and get a special rate for the cooks at one of our many hotels. I will post it on the website and also let you know what hotel it will be.
.
It took several meetings but I do have two (2) hotels
to choose from on the island. I have put these hotels
on the website www.chilicookoffspi.com. They are the
Howard Johnson Hotel and the Comfort Suites Hotel.
They both gave excellent rates for those who ID
themselves as Chili Cooks. The reservations at these
prices must be made before 4/20/07. After that date
the prices are full price once again.
.
The phone number for the Howard Johnson is
956-761-5658. The phone number for the Comfort Suites
is 956-772-9020.
.
I am sorry for the change but for some reason the
Beachside Inn withdrew their offer of special rates
for chili cooks.
.
I thank all for their patience.

APRIL 28 & 29

The fifteenth Annual Carson Valley Chili Cookoff & Craft Fair sponsored by the Carson Valley Sertoma Club will be a two day back-to-back Regional event on Saturday & Sunday, April 28 & 29 at the Carson Valley Inn (CVI) located on US 395 in Minden, Nevada, about 14 miles south of Carson City. This event keeps growing each year.

.

The CVI has blocked a limited number of rooms & RV spaces at reduced rates. Reservations can be made at 1-800-321-6983, Ext 1. Be sure to mention Group #500846. Rates, including tax, are as follows:

Motor Lodge - 25 rooms - $75.90 (Fri & Sat) - $60.50 (Sun)

RV Resort - 23 spaces - $21.78 (30 amp) - $24.75 (50 amp)

.

Both the Motor Inn & the RV Resort are adjacent to the cookoff site. The CVI Casino & Hotel is within walking distance and boasts two excellent restaurants.

.

This year we are indeed fortunate to have Dave & Kathy Hipskind as Chief Judge & Scorekeeper.

.

The cookoff site is a gravel parking lot which is completely fenced and provides security Friday & Saturday in that we lock the two gates overnight. There will be limited vehicle parking (no RVs) for cooks during the day.

.

In case you haven't done so already, please sign up on the ICS web or contact me at 775-267-4938 or fritz@GBIS.com.
