Delaware Valley Regional - Dave Lorenz
Here is a site that will be at the DVRCC chili cookoff.

Organizers of the Delaware Valley International Chili Society cookoff and festival are looking to expand their audience beyond South Jersey.
Promotional tie-ins with TV's FOX29 and WXTU-FM are aimed at drawing crowds from Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware for the second annual event, scheduled for April 21 on the 4-H Fairgrounds in Harrison Township.
Over 16,000 people sampled the chili created by 78 cooks at the debut festival in 2006. This year's goal is 125 cooks and 25,000 to 30,000 guests. The cooks will compete for nearly $5,000 in prizes. The television and radio sponsorships will "broaden our range," suggested Rhone Carr, president of the event organizer, the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce.
FOX29's Sue Serio is scheduled to broadcast weather information from the fairgrounds on April 19.
"Every 10 minutes, she will do a live broadcast," noted Carr. A series of promotional ads on the channel will also serve to raise awareness of the event to an audience across the Delaware Valley, Carr observed.
He expects the additional publicity will help "pull" more visitors from the other side of the Delaware River.
Students from Rowan University will conduct surveys at this year's festival to gain demographic information from visitors. Carr's eventual goal is to host the International Chili Society's world championships.
Advance tickets $10 a carload for the event have gone on sale. Tickets are available at branches of The Bank, the Susquehanna Bank branch in Mullica Hill, and the chamber's office in Glassboro. Tickets will be $15 at the gate.
Besides chili sampling, there will be a wing eating contest featuring former Wing Bowl champ "El Wingador" and activities for children.
Carr promises a "fun-filled day for the entire family."
Five charities United Way, People for People, the Boys and Girls Club, 4-H Fair Association and Habitat for Humanity will share in 50 percent of the proceeds.
For information, call the chamber, (856) 384-2655.

Big Juan
Oh - the miracles of modern medicine !! After all that work - they sent the mighty Big Juan home yesterday evening. To think - he has a "sipper" installed last Thursday PM - and he is home !! Simply Amazing !!
Thanks to all for the prayers and tequila sacrifices !! Keep up the good work. Say a few extras for Alexis. She is going to be taking FMLA every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to take "Mr. Daisy" to his weekly dialysis and other errands. (The Dr. won't let him ride in the front seat - or drive - for 5 weeks)
Oh - and on a chili note -- look for cook off info shortly. Once again - first weekend in June at the "Star". Plan on bringing some chili -- CD 105.9 will be our radio station sponsor this year. Announcements - 5 times a day - for two weeks before the event !! And - they will be on site on Saturday !!
