The 21st Annual Chillifest was held this past weekend "On the Square" in Taylorville, IL.
This local community event is presented by the Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce
as a fund raiser for the Chamber's many activities through out the year. The Chamber is a not for profit organization.
The Chillifest is a 2 day event featuring food, crafts, entertainment, cars and of course Chilli.
And lots of chili is served with over 300 gallons offered up to the public as well as more than
5,000 free samples handed out by the chili contestants.
Crowd estimates were to early to complete, however, estimates were in the 10,000 to 12,000 people. There was also a record number of contestants for the cookoffs each day.
There was an endless stream of activities all weekend with 2 stages offering up Great entertainment all weekend. New this year was the children's stage that was just very rewarding and fun. Go to www.chillifestinfo.com for more of the events and photos.
Tom Calvert (Chief Judge) and Amy Winans (Chief Scorekeeper) did an excellent job of keeping things running smoothly all weekend.
Many, many thanks goes to all of the chillifest members for all of there hard work as volunteers for Chillifest. Kelly Younker and Lori Funderburk (Chillifest CO-Chairpersons) put together just a great group that all pull together to make it all happen.
Now about the chilli cookoff......a record 43 cooks from 8 states turned out for Saturdays Chillinois Regional with another record 30 chilli cooks competing in Sunday's Central States Regional.
Thanks to all the Chilli cooks and judges for helping make this another successful Chillifest.

Radio broadcast about ICS World’s Championships info .
Received a call from Martin Wells the gentleman who was recording cooks for the Only A Game radio program. The program played on October 14th, but you can go to their web site www.onlyagame.org to look at the photos and heard the interviews. When you click on the button for listening to the program, it starts off with sports news, but you can fast forward about 2/3 through the broadcast (at about 39.44 on the time counter) and the chili news starts.
