Bank of the Elk Reg.
Clay, WV
Sept 17
.
It was a beautiful sunny day on the banks of the Elk River in Clay County West Virginia.
Clay, WV is noted for the home of the Golden Delicious Apple and that they did have.
Each contestants was given a large bag of the very beautiful and delicious apples.
Joretta Gray (Chairperson) along with Connie Sizemore (Head Score Keeper) did an excellent job of organizing and putting on this cookoff.
Joretta had prizes, awards, ribbons, trophies, and CASH for many of her contestant categories.
How about $2,500 for first place Chili!.........That is some serious cash.
Many of the cooks participated in the peoples choice which was a donation collected for funds for the Clay County 4H Association.
The winning peoples Choice Winner had collected over $129 for the 4H Association along with monies from the other contestants.
This was a very nice cookoff and Joretta and her other volunteers are planning for bigger and better things next year which will include a Classic Corvette Show......mark your calendars!
