WEDNESDAY - July 22, 2009

Fire & Spice New Hampshire Regional
The Fire & Spice New Hampshire Regional Chili Cookoff is growing by leaps and bounds.  Planning is coming together and the buzz is getting louder and louder.  Our partner, WOKQ, is in talks with a major country music artist to perform at the event, as he is in the area that day....but no more hints.  It will be a surprise.  For those that are considering traveling the distance to compete in our cookoff, we have arranged a special room rate of $85/night at the local Holiday Inn Express in Rochester, NH
You may register online at  www.hiexpress.com/rochesternh or by calling (603)994-1175.   Be sure to mention Group Code FSC to get the special rate.  Again, space is filling up fast and we are planning on showing all the cooks a tremendous time, so register.  Please visit our updated website or call the number below to get more information.  We look forward to seeing you on September 5th.

Kicks on RT 66 Chili Cookoff,
 Springfield,IL July25
We still have openings for cooks and are looking for Salsa entries for this Saturday's district cookoff. There will be contests for r ed, Verde, and salsa. The cookoff will be outdoors and cooks should plan on bringing their own canopies/tents. There will be a large tent for the event but cooks may not be allowed to cook under it. If cooks do need shelter they should contact the chairman for assistance. This is a change from what was on the flyer mailed to cooks.
The cookoff will be part of Kicks on 66 Summer Sizzle , a July 23 - 26 event benefiting Brother James Court. Kicks is a local buffet, gaming and family entertainment center in Springfield IL The cookoff is part of a four day event  featuring various types of entertainment throughout the four days. On cookoff day local radio station WFMB Country 104.5 will be doing a live remote,  local Band "Daddy's Money" will provide music from 1p - 4pm and Bluesmattic Rock n' Blues Band from 7p - 11p. They will also have the  Land of Lincoln Thunderbird Club "cruise-in".
Ray's Brand Chilli is our chili sponsor.

MONDAY - July 20, 2009

VERMONT STATE RESULTS
After a stormy night in Vermont, the day started gloomy, but the cooks didn't care, because by the time they set up, the sun was coming out and the day was shaping up beautifully. The Vermont State Chili Cookoff was held in conjunction with the Arlington Fire Co. #1 Carnival, so we decided this year to have the turn-ins later in the day so the carnival goers can enjoy the chili. This seemed to work out, as we had more spectators Saturday than we have in the past. Jamie (the fire chief) and his crew did a great job helping all the cooks set up and getting the judging area ready, in spite of their being up all night on a fire call. One of the highlights is the beautiful framed trophies that are made by master cabinet maker, Jamie Paustian, also the chairman of the cookoff. The cooks enjoyed the beautiful setting and the weather and the happy winners were:

Hello cooks... as of today I have 16 signed up and at least 12 coming but not signed up yet.   Looks like a great event coming up.   Working hard to make it a Family Fun Day in our community.   You're the main attraction and some of you are planning some great booths.   We appreciate that.   Special thanks to Mad Mike for helping out.   Also Steve and Audrey for judging.   The band is The Help Wanted Band (same as last year).   Fire and Iron motorcycle group is coming, DJ, moonwalks, vendors and our (Kiwanis) food b ooth.   My last prayer is for the weather and I'm working on that.   Any way I can help you out just ask.
 Thanks..... Bruce.
P.s.   I'm still learning this computer stuff so bear with me!!!!!!!!!!
