March into Spring Regional Cookoff Results

Mt. Airy, MD is a small town between Frederick and Baltimore. It may be small, but it's got a lot of Heart. The Mt. Airy Main Street Association sponsored the event that drew a nice crowd on a cloudy and cool Saturday. The rain held off until 5 pm, after everyone was packed up. This was the start of the storm that flooded the Northeast. The timing of the cookoff couldn't have been better. Steve Falkowski was Chief Judge and Audrey was Scorekeeper, assisted by Kim Eckley. The local Boy Scouts did a great job selling hot dogs and doing any odd job they could, including helping a rookie cook set up and test her new stove. The chairperson, Barbara Corbalis did a great job on her first cookoff. A special thanks to Elle who supplied the use of her not yet open flower shop for all the judging. The event was a great success with 29 cooks and lots of good judges and volunteers. We hope to see more cooks there next year.

Status of Lompoc Cook Off 4/21/07

This is who I have doing what:

.
Jim Beaty red,
Eileen Beaty red, salsa
James Rasey, red, verde
Dave Thomas, verde
Daniel Placencia red, salsa
Sheila Beller red, salsa
Gene Beller red
Irene Menchaca red
Paul Laroche red
Brian Kearns red
.
So if I'm counting right we have 10 reds, 3 greens and 5 salsa. We need 4 more green and 2 more salsa. Worse case is if we are not sanctioned for green or salsa, at least there will be prize money. But you know how those chili cooks are, they just keep you guessing and show up, bless their hearts!!!
.
I've talked Derril into making some bloody mary's for us so we can toast Ray and wish Harry Edgar get well wishes. If you don't know, Harry and Kathy won't be here, Harry has leukemia. We wish him all the best. Joel Erickson will be our chief judge and Bev will be chief scorekeeper. I'm sure you all remember Johnny Mc Candless, from the old chili days, he is in town and will be coming down for the cook-off.
.
See you all on Sat.
Patti

Delaware Valley Regional Chili Cookoff

There are only five days until we host the DVRCC. Weather is forecast to be in the low 60's and sunny. If anyone is still interested in cooking, you can go online at www.delvalchilicookoff.com and fill out the entry form. We have even gone hi tech and added a link to pay by credit card…wow…I would have never thought this could happen when I started cooking in the early 80's!!!

Sincerely,

David A. Lorenz

Central Ohio Chili Festival Results - Chuck Hoff

CENTRAL OHIO CHILI FESTIVAL

Beulah Park Race Track

Well the weather wasn't so nice as it was rainy and cold all day but the cooks didn't care because they were inside with a full view of the track. The ponies didn't seem to care either because there was a full schedule of racing held along with simulcasts from other tracks. From some of the yelling I heard I think some of the cooks made a little extra money also. The People's Choice Chili was ready at noon and that started off a good day for chili. The Central Ohio Epilepsy Foundation was the charity that benefited from the cookoff.
