Greetings from the great northeast!

I was privileged to attend the first Delaware Valley Regional Chili Cookoff this past weekend.  Why was I privileged?  Because of the awesome work of some awesome individuals.  Specifically, Rhone Carr, who was driven to acquire the resources who made this event one of the best I have attended.  Who else?  Dave Lorenz, chief judge, and who did so much more.......very little sleep, and much support from his beautiful wife Cindy, who is GREAT with child.  AND..........MAD MIKE!!!  This guy is the best!!!  Another one of those guys you can count on for a truly wonderful cookoff,  Thanks to you all and the many volunteers you had and what a WONDERFUL job they did!

Canadian Chili Cookoffs    -    Joy and Randy Bilozir   - Calgary

Hello Chili Friends

Randy and I have taken over the Alberta Championship and Western Regional Championship from Ron and Dolene Michel. Both these cookoffs are regional cookoffs and for our American friends your dollar is still worth more up here! This is a great location and we are working on getting a hotel chili rate.

The cookoff dates are:  Saturday July 22 and Sunday July 23

Location: Crossroads Farmer's Market - Calgary Alberta

Times: setup - 7:00 am    Cooks meeting 7:30 am

Green Prep 8:00 - 9:00 am   Turn in at Noon

Salsa - turn in at 11:00 am

Red Prep - 10:00 to 11:00 am  Turn in at 1:00

We will be having a Cook's Party at our house on Friday starting at 6:30 pm with some great BBQ pork butt and other goodies. Could you please contact us if you are interested in cooking as soon as possible. Our email address is: bzchili@hotmail.com.

Norm Gaul update   -   Bobbie Gaul

Norm is being released from the Hospital tomorrow (Thursday).  He is doing very well, and they will be moving him to a regular room today.

 

He opened all the cards yesterday, and we both want  to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughtfulness and telephone calls during this last week.  I truly believe that prayers work.

Ohio chili cook-off    -    Ken Kostal

If you are coming to the Buckeye regional and Ohio state cook-off this week-end and have not sent your application in or haven't sent me an e-mail or entered online today would be a good day to reply to me at bigboppers@cros.net or call me at 419-734-4458 and let me know what you are going to cook.

 

WE are having cocktail's from 5:00-7:45 on friday at the holiday inn express and then dinner at Nagoya Japanese steakhouse &sushi at 8:00. I need for those cook's that are coming in on friday to let me know if they want to go to dinner. The place is right across from the holiday inn express and opened last year the week-end of the chili cook-off. They have been doing great and I am looking forward to having dinner with all you cook's so please let me know who is going to join us.   Sat. night cook's party is at the holiday inn express and the food from Big boppers will be served from 6:30-8-30 and you won't want to miss it. Thank you and I am looking forward to the week-end and am praying every day that mother nature will shine on us. As you get off rt. 2 on to rt.53  to get to the holiday inn express you won't miss the huge tent at our new location the regional welcome center.

Hello Chiliheads,

The Delaware Valley Regional Chili Cookoff is almost full.  We have space for two more cooks.  If you are planning on cooking, please get you’re application in by Wednesday, April 26.  The chairman is going to cut off the entries at that time.  We now have 68 cooks signed up for the event.  This will be a record day for chili in New Jersey and the Northeast!!!
